Coach Wes Journal Entry I: Let's Get These Blogs Going!

 
 

Early in 2022, I took the liberty to revamp the HOOPERS portion of the Healthy Baller website so visitors can get a better glimpse of the basketball side of our business. We updated our video content, testimonials from basketball players/parents/coaches who have gotten to know the HB brand, and updated information about our coaching staff to provide a more fulfilling landing space that represents everything basketball related within Healthy Baller. One section of the website was still very much noticeably incomplete. The Hoopers Huddle blog page remained untouched displaying “COMING SOON!”…….until now!

I am VERY excited to get this side of the website going alongside my OG & HB Founder/Fellow Co-Director of Basketball Performance Coach Blair O’Donovan to strengthen (pun intended) our connection with our athletes, parents, families and supporters. The aim is to provide value through our insights that will be engaging, entertaining and most importantly educating. We will each do regular journal entries to discuss current events, along with topic-based entries from our experiences and expertise pertaining to the basketball world and sports performance.

Blair and I have been in this game as player and coach for a long time and have experiences at different levels(high school, college, NBA, international) which have allowed us to make connections with people from all across the world, so I am sure we will have plenty to share with readers who follow along. Not to mention, everything and everyone we are currently experiencing and connecting with. Who knows, we could possibly get some contributions from other members of the HB fam and friends within the industry, so stay tuned!

OVERTIME

MY WORKOUTS: I’m coming off of the “Squatober” workout regiment where I was pretty much doing different squat variations everyday of the week (I only missed two days total to manage some knee irritation) so now I’m im doing more isometrics, contrast and power focused work to translate those strength gains into more bounce! I’m also playing in a men’s league (I’ll keep ya’ll updated on that) so I’ve been getting in more work on the basketball court to make sure that I perform well this season!

WORKOUTS FOR MY ATHLETES: We came off a GREAT summer with the HOOPERS PROGRAM this offseason so for those that are still local, we’ve been in our preseason workouts focusing on things to help the athletes prepare for their upcoming winter seasons while making sure we manage the load, volume and varying stresses that come along with the with the school year. Next up, transitioning into our IN-SEASON TRAINING to continue our development with consideration to all of the variables that come within a season (definitely another blog on that coming up!) #DevelopmentNeverStops
